    RIVER RAFTING IN INDIA

River Rafting in India

White Water River Rafting in IndiaTake 13,000 cubic feet per second of water, add a few good friends and you've got a thrilling action packed white water trip with Adventure Silk Road Inc. A wild water experience guaranteed to pull you out of everyday existence and throw you into a world of thrills, chills and spills. Adventure Silk Road Inc runs one day and weekend rafting trips on some of the best white water rivers in India. Currently Adventure Silk Road Inc runs seasonal rafting operations in more than 12 rivers across India. In addition, we also run multi day river expeditions on the Brahmaputra, Zanskar, Kali, Tons and the Indus to name a few.

White water rafting is quite a recent sport in India. The snow-fed mountain rivers winding down from the mighty Himalayas make northern India one of the best regions for this adventure. Inexperienced and beginners have their choice of tranquil waters, with the assurance of a passage through magnificent riverside panorama. Some rapids hit Colorado 8 (the highest is 10) on the scale, but most are on the 4 to 6 grade. The main regions for this sport are Ladakh, Garhwal and the rivers of Himachal Pradesh.

White Water River Rafting in IndiaSome other rivers for white water rafting expeditions are river Tons, Spiti, Sutlej, Chandra Bhaga, Narmada, Subansari, Sarda. Indian has also launched rafting operations on the Kali River in Dandeli National Park in Karnataka.

Many of us may have seen kayaking, either on a river trip, or on the television - its looks exciting, a big rapid, a colorful kayaker weaving a path through the waves and all the randomness of white water. You may have wondered, if you could be that person in the kayak, if you could look as graceful and have that much fun, being so much closer to the water than being on a raft.

If kayaking has caught your eye and interest, and now you want to learn how to negotiate rapids and how to surf those waves and holes. Let the Aquaterra Adventures kayak school show you the ropes, from paddling in a straight line, to negotiating class 1 and 2 rapids, to taking the plunge into the tongue of a Class 3 or 4 rapid.

At the Aquaterra Adventures kayak school, or instructors have the experience and skill to teach beginners the basics of whitewater and the finer details of paddling skills and new techniques. We have a wide range of kayaks to suit your skill level and body type.

Kayak classes are scheduled upto 4 days. We recommend that you spend at least four days in our school as a first step. The reason for this is that you will have more time to learn and practice the basic skills, and then apply them to moving water.

Learning to kayak is challenging, but the rewards are well worth the effort. Kayaking will help you get some exercise, along with running some fun rapids, and of course keep you in touch with the great outdoors.

The Himalayas, stretching 3,200 kilometers along India's northern frontiers, cradle numerous rivers which drain them all year round. This abundance of mountain rivers makes India a world class whitewater destination‚ with plenty of first-descent and exploratory possibilities.

If you are a normal healthy person and without any fear of water, then rafting can be your sport. A river journey is one of the most enjoyable ways to experience the rural areas and natural environments of any country. White water rafting in Uttaranchal has become the modern-day centerpiece of complete vacations that can include a world of activities. The key ingredient, of course, is still the tremendous whitewater that courses through the state's spectacular mountain scenery. Uttaranchal offers one of the broadest array of river experiences available anywhere in the world, from mild to wild with everything in between. The river Ganges cuts against the rocky banks, crash into rocks, crevices and breaking into white water rapids, foaming, swirling, and falling in a thunderous din.
